EINSTEIN TELESCOPE

Together with Anouk Schmid from Einstein Telescope, Maurer United Architects organised several workshops in Heerlen and Liège around the bid book for Einstein Telescope Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The workshops explored the spatial, regional and cultural dimensions of this major scientific project.

OSTBELGIEN WITHIN EUREGION

RWTH Aachen, Reicher Haase Assoziierte and Maurer United Architects organised a workshop together with the German-speaking Community of Belgium, Ostbelgien. Together with regional partners, the team explored key projects for the spatial development of the region within the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

Cologne Excursion

Together with Topos Zuid-Limburg, Maurer United Architects visited Cologne. The group was welcomed by Paul Böhm at his office and visited the O.M. Ungers Archive. The visit included classic drawings by Piranesi and Nolli, offering a rich perspective on architecture, city and representation.

ROMAN QUARTER HEERLEN

On 17 January 2026, Raadhuisplein in Heerlen was officially opened. With this festive moment, Maurer United Architects completed Crossroads of Perspectives, part of the Roman Quarter in Heerlen. The project uses public space to tell the story of the cultural heritage of this location.

BEE HOUSE CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the Bee House at Tiny House Park Beekdaelen has started. The building will serve as a shared community house for users of the tiny houses in the park. Produced as a Woudthuis, it combines timber construction with a compact, sustainable and collective spatial concept.

TRANS REGIO EXPRESS

Nicole Maurer and Holger Hoffschroër successfully presented the Trans Regio Express project at Stimuleringsfonds. The project was developed over the past year by Maurer United Architects, Reicher Haase Assoziierte and RuimteRealisten. The funding was granted, enabling the team to complete it during 2026.

Building the Raadhuisplein

On 21 December 2025, the works around Raadhuisplein in Heerlen are nearing completion. The construction site already shows the outlines of the new public space designed by Maurer United Architects. The project strengthens the representative buildings around the civic space in the heart of the city.

THREE LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE

Maurer United Architects designed the renovation of the main hall of Muziekgieterij in Maastricht. The upper balconies – previously only accessible via the backstage – are being integrated into the public area. This creates around 100 spots with improved sightlines, without increasing the total capacity of 1,100 visitors.

GAY JONGEN

Maurer United Architects, in collaboration with interior architect Gay Jongen, designed Jongen’s new showroom in the Scharn district of Maastricht. Under the slogan Studio, Store and Social, Jongen combines his design studio, retail space, and meeting place. Two design apartments have been created on the upper floor.
