Marc Maurer

Marc Maurer (NL,1969) was born in Eindhoven and grew up in Germany. After high school, he moved to his hometown in the Netherlands. He studied architecture, urban planning, and structural engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. In 1995 he received a master’s degree for his thesis on the relationship between architecture and ‘urban culture’. His thesis was awarded a nomination for the National Archiprix and a nomination for the NPS Culture Award. In collaboration with graffiti artists ZEDZ and Boris ‘DELTA’ Tellegen, he received the National Millennium Culture Prize. He co-founded initiatives such as Baltan Laboratories (Eindhoven), Dutch Design Exchange (Maastricht), and Stichting Street Art (Heerlen). As a director, he manages Maurer United, with a special interest in architecture, fine art, sampling, and typography.
